from molten rock to furnishing elements |

Etna's lavas are mainly made of melted silica that solidified become basalt. In the olden days, cut and squared into blocks by the able hands of the stone cutters, it was used to pave entire cities, due to its resistant qualities and beauty. Today, cut into thin slabs using modern machinery, the lavic stone undergoes a ceramic procedure that transforms it into decorative furnishings, unique in their style and elegance. In the tradition of Etna's basalt, Giovanna Grigoli, ceramist and decorator, produces by hand wall tiles and building decorations, whose ornamental motifs, traditional and innovative, have graced the most resistant of volcanic rock. Interpreting the tastes and needs of the client, she creates pavements, built- in kitchens, furnishings, building decorations, restorations and rustic or modern accessories for villas and gardens. |
